The NEW White House

Much like a fancy art gallery, The White House occasionally acquires pieces of art that are part of a particular collection by an artist. Today, we acquired "The Disney Princess Collection" by Jillian White:

Pocahontas and her bird friend (I think named "Flit"...is that right?)


Belle from Beauty and the Beast. This one is a bit more "interpretive," obviously, and it was also created in part, by using a "natural" tool - a blade of grass was employed for the red marks on the left.

If Jillian completes the collection with Cinderella, I'll add that as soon as it is available!

In reference to seeing baby hair bows at Dillard's:
"When I have a baby girl in MY tummy, I can buy them for my baby girl!"

While trying on a stack of clothes to see what is too small:
"When I have a baby girl in MY tummy, I can get in my car and drive and get her clothes at the store!"

Talking to Richard about the various Care Bears:
"I know it LOOKS like 'Two Hearts Bear,' but it's actually 'Love-a-Lot Bear.'" She did this for A LOT of bears that Richard intentionally called the wrong names...

9:30 at night, I was vacuuming the downstairs playroom and figured that Jillian was already asleep or that she'd be able to fall asleep with the drone of the vacuum. I'm finishing up, and she comes out of her room and sternly says, "We do NOT vacuum at night. We SLEEP at night!"

Prior to enjoying a Mother's Day dinner with my family on Sunday, we took them out to see the house. This is the first time they have seen the house because they were wanting to wait until there were walls in place and you could tell where the rooms where. Some of the new items this week were the addition of the brick arches over the front patio. This really give the house a more complete look. Also, as show in the pictures below, we now have a garage door, interior molding, some interior doors, banisters on the stairway, and they have even started some of the painting of the interior walls. It is like looking at a completely different house now that some of these items are in place.

Okay, there has been a bit of time between posts, but we now have a lot of new news! I got a call from the Construction Manager (CM) last Friday, and he informed me that they had started on both the brick and the sheet rock. In our previous meeting with him on Tuesday, April 17th, he let us know that each of these steps would take about one week's time.



Judging by what we saw this past Sunday (images below), the brick should be done sometime this week. As the CM told me on Friday, the next step will be getting the cabinets in. Yay! Well, enjoy the pictures below...

Just wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know that we ARE still updating this page. We have been out to the house over the past 2 weekends, and there haven't been many visual changes. Small things have happened such as some electric work and AC units being installed as well as back patio doors being installed, but other than that, not a lot has happened over the past couple of weeks as they wait in inspections.

Hopefully they will get the interior walls sheetrock-ed this week and we can get some interior pictures up on the site. Anyhow, stay tuned!

Another week, another post! Last Friday, I learned that our house now had a roof and windows, so naturally, Dana, Jillian, and I had to go take a look. We drove out to the site on Saturday, and they were working hard! We were able to get a shot from directly in front of the house, which now actually looks like a house for the first time!

I walked around and took pics of the house from all angles. I love that there is so much space between our house and the houses next to us. It is not as much as if we were living out in the country, but definitely more space than we have seen anywhere in Plano. This last shot is of the 3 houses on our small block -- ours is the one in the middle.

On Thursday, I got the weekly update call from the Field manager and he informed me that the frame was now up on the house! He also said that the windows will be getting installed this next week and they will also begin work on the roof. Needless to say, I was very surprised with all of this news since the last time we saw it, it was just a slab of concrete with a few pipes sticking out.

Dana and I were very excited to hear about the framing, so we decided to drive out there when I got home from work. This is what we saw as we pulled up.

This is the house next door. We couldn't believe how quickly they had gotten to this stage since the framing for it was going up just last week!

We also drove through the neighborhood and found this house that is a similar layout to ours. This gives you a better idea of what the finished product will end up looking like.
